The clinic appears set up for both routine care and more involved investigations/surgery, including orthopaedics (cruciate surgery, fracture repair) and dentistry. Recent reviews are mixed: some owners describe clear explanations and successful treatment (including a first kitten visit where the vet answered children’s questions), while others make serious allegations about missed/slow recognition of urgent problems, aftercare issues, and unexpected add-on charges.

They deserve zero stars! They failed to examine our dog properly, failed to notice he had a medical emergency called GDV, despite him being in clear agony. This led to him dying in needless extreme pain! We will never forgive them for this. Our dog couldn't even stand by the time when we got him in to get examined. The vet still refused to take it seriously and wouldn't assist with lifting the dog off the floor to get into the examination room, despite requests for help, he just watched and said nothing. He then prescribed a stupid probiotic thinking our dog had gas, and did not bother to do an X Ray despite requests for this. As a result of this lack of care, our poor dog was dead within a few hours. Vets4pets then tried to lie when we complained and said they had mentioned GDV as a possibility (they hadn't). They said they offered a X Ray for GDV the following day! Once again this shows they failed to recognise an emergency as an X Ray the next day would be useless, GDV is fatal within around 3 hours unless emergency treatment is provided to relieve the gas build up, such treatment would only be to buy time so emergency surgery can be performed. If they suspected GDV then why the delay? Of course it was because they failed to identify the possibility of this condition. Further evidence of this is the lack of the emergency intervention being given had they actually suspected this condition! They didn't even book in an X Ray for the following day. We had asked for an X Ray whilst our dog was already there and they refused and said they would do so IF he was still in pain the next day. They have taken no responsibility and their apology was hollow, as the vet effectively said he considered this condition and briefly mentioned it (he didn't) and yet for some reason only chose to treat our dog for gas (makes no sense but the management apparently believes this nonsense). The management then apparently expects us to believe this stupid story, we know exactly what happened! Their vet misdiagnosed and failed to treat our dog appropriately as a result. They then tried to pass the blame onto us by lying and saying their vet had told us of this possibility, talk about rubbing salt in the wound! We had asked for an emergency scan repeatedly, he didn't want to do it because he was over confident that our dog had gas. He was so convinced of this that he had told us to take our dog for a walk when he couldn't even stand, in order to help him pass gas! Our dog died in absolute agony thanks to this heartless place. They only care about money and prescribed a useless probiotic, they didn't care to examine our dog properly whilst he was alive and could potentially have been saved with proper care. Avoid! Do not believe the excuses of this practice. UPDATE: I have seen the response from this practice, NO, our dog was NOT stable! He was unable to stand, was severely bloated and screaming in pain! We said we would take the dog to another vet AFTER this practice said they could ONLY offer a painkiller in ONE HOUR if our dog hadn't improved! That wouldn't have saved him which is why we didn't want to go back to them, they were still not taking it seriously! They were sticking with their stupid diagnosis of "gas". The other vets we contacted recommended Newbury Park provide emergency treatment, which they were not offering. The owner once again glosses past this glaring issue of misdiagnosis! We ran out of time to save our dog due to their delays, misdiagnosis, arrogance, lack of urgency and care. We were still desperately calling other vets to get urgent care, as his body failed and he passed away in front of us. We WILL be taking this matter further. If this practice had been competant and followed the CORRECT treatment pathway, none of this would have happened! The continuing lack of accountability is disgusting, as is your attempt at deflecting blame to us! As to being supposed "pet lovers", we witnessed what that entailed when your vet failed to assist in getting our collapsing and distressed dog into your examination room!

I know it's Sunday, but why is there a person at the front desk if there's no vet but is open until 16 ? By the way, the saleswomen at the store are super nice.

Receptionist is rude and has an attitude problem . Don’t work in customer service environments if you lack customer service skills simple

It was our first time visiting with our kitten Caspi. My kids were so reassured with the vet doctor about her eyes. Doc was sooo welcoming and full of knowledge and kept answering all my kids questions. I was very impressed.Thank you for providing a very holistic approach.

Terrible. Rude and unhelpful at the best of times. We regularly help neuter cats in the area when the owners aren’t able. Took four cats to be neutered there, one had pooed on her way into the vets. They said not to worry they’d take care of it. They then proceeded to add nearly £80 to the bill to cover flea treatment which was never asked for, nor did they ring to check this additional fee was okay. They said they needed to give flea treatment due to ‘health & safety’ whilst doing the operation. All was paid, on collection they gave me the female back in her dirty carrier, it had not been cleaned merely wiped with a tissue or something equally useless. Seems ridiculous they were so concerned about health & safety regarding fleas but would give back a neutered cat with a scar wound in a carrier smeared with poo….ridiculous! Watch out for hidden ‘extras’ also.

Unacceptable standards of care — I strongly advise avoiding this practice. My dog went untreated for eight days after I initially brought him in on 23rd June with clear signs of a grass seed injury — which I specifically flagged. I saw the vet on three separate occasions, each time explaining my concerns, and each time the issue was dismissed as a broken toe. By 29th June, the injury had worsened significantly, and my dog was admitted for exploratory surgery on 1st July — no diagnostic imaging was done before surgery, which meant they were unable to locate and remove the seed — which had by then, migrated deeper into his body, due to the delay. To make matters worse, I had informed the vet on the day of surgery that my dog had also experienced vomiting and diarrhoea several times during the 8-day period. This was not passed on to the surgeon, who prescribed medication that — according to the vet herself — should not have been given in that state. Her words were, this changes everything. Then — shockingly — he was discharged with no medication at all. I had to phone to ask, at which point the nurse offered to drop it off on her way home. But this would have been the incorrect medication, not taking into account the vomiting I had reported. This is appallingly poor aftercare for a post-operative animal. When I raised concerns with the practice manager, she completely ignored the issue of the missing meds, and responded with, rude and defensive emails. This is the same person who publicly complained about her own dog, coming back “soaked in urine” from another local vet — yet she can’t acknowledge the life-threatening oversight that occurred under her own care. She also manages multiple branches — including Loughton and Chadwell Heath — a fact that isn't made clear to clients unless you dig through Companies House records. I had originally planned to transfer my dog’s care to Chadwell Heath, only to discover it’s operated by the same management. In effect, this gives her control over a large portion of affordable local vet care, with limited alternatives nearby. This is something I’ll be raising with the licensing councils, alongside formal complaints to the RCVS and VCMS. Now, due to their failings, my dog has been referred for emergency surgery at a specialist hospital in Cambridge, where he’ll stay for at least three days. The cost is currently, £5,000, with no guarantee of success — all because the original injury was not treated promptly or appropriately. This has been traumatic, distressing, and completely preventable. Given this, I would strongly caution anyone against trusting a veterinary practice operated by Cheryl Lucas.
