I would strongly advise anyone to think very carefully before trusting this practice with their pet.
My very loved dog Coco had been under their care for many years. Between December 2025 and March 2026, she presented with ongoing heavy vaginal bleeding despite being spayed, yet her care was not appropriately managed and no diagnosis was reached.
Despite months of symptoms, I was repeatedly told by the vet, Alexandra, that the only options were an expensive CT scan (quoted up to £4,000) or palliative care. I was also advised that further investigation would likely be unsuccessful due to her size. At no point was a mass identified. Utter incompetence.
Coco was consistently treated as a difficult dog yet has never been reactive or given a reason for her to be treated this way, she was routinely muzzled and sedated, which significantly limited proper examination and was completely unnecessary.
Concerned, I sought an urgent second opinion and the difference in care was shocking to the core.
At My Vet 24-7 (Hillingdon) Daniel examined Coco calmly without sedation or a muzzle, including a full physical and rectal examination. During this first appointment, he was able to palpate a very large vaginal tumour immediately just a few inches inside her - something that had been completely missed by Goddard’s yet I was told I would even be able to feel it myself.
Within one week:
• She had appropriate investigations
• Multiple biopsies were taken
• She was diagnosed with epithelial carcinoma
Coco was treated with kindness, patience, and dignity - not as a problem to manage.
Tragically, the tumour had already progressed significantly due to the considerable amount of time waisted. She developed a bladder obstruction and deteriorated rapidly. She had to be put to sleep at home, in my arms, surrounded by those who loved her on Saturday the 21st of March 2026 17:15pm.
I cannot accept that a tumour of this size - described as massive and advanced - was not identified earlier by a ‘reputable veterinarian hospital’. This represents a serious failure in basic clinical assessment and decision-making.
My dog suffered unnecessarily due to missed opportunities for earlier diagnosis and intervention.
In contrast, I cannot thank Daniel enough for the care he provided in such a short time and coming to my home after he finished work so Coco could pass over the rainbow bridge surrounded by such raw love in her own home. I would strongly recommend him to anyone - he showed exactly what compassionate, competent veterinary care should look like.
No animal should be left to suffer in this way when a basic examination could have identified the issue sooner.
I will never return to this practice, and I would not recommend them to others. If you care about your animals, AVOID THIS PLACE & ALEXANDRA AT ALL COSTS!
My Coco deserved better. You will all be held accountable.
I would highly recommend you do not use this vet. We took our dog to see them because she was very ill but because of her size they would not even examine her without a scan costing 2 to 4 grand depending on the day so they just pumped her full of anti biotics that done nothing. We decided to get a second opinion at my vet 24-7 in hillingdon and within minutes the vet examined her and discovered a large tumour. 2 days later she was in for biopsy. It was cancer and yesterday our dog was put to sleep. If this incompetent vet had examined her months ago this could have maybe been treatable. Highly recommend my vet 24-7 especially vet daniel. DO NOT put your animals in this vets care.
We entrusted Goddard Veterinary Group, Mandeville Hospital, with our cat Mila in December 2025 and deeply regret that decision. Our experience under the care of Dr Sunil Thanki raised serious concerns about transparency, consent and escalating costs.
Mila was admitted on 1 December 2025 for vomiting and fever. We were verbally advised that initial overnight investigations would cost around £650 to £680. We were told the £2,500 upper figure on the consent form would apply only if a comprehensive ultrasound was performed and if surgery became necessary. Neither occurred overnight, yet by the next morning we were told costs had already reached approximately £2,500.
An X-ray and FAST scan were carried out overnight without prior discussion or specific consent. The following morning, a comprehensive ultrasound under further sedation was presented as “necessary” to reach a diagnosis, rather than optional. We agreed while distressed, relying on professional advice and believing the tests were clinically required.
After a two-day admission, the final invoice totalled £3,632.42. This exceeded both the verbal estimate and the signed upper limit, with no revised written estimate or updated signed consent before escalation. Multiple imaging modalities were performed sequentially, requiring repeated sedations. We were not informed in advance that more than one sedation would be required, nor were cumulative risks and costs clearly explained.
Following the comprehensive ultrasound, we were told Mila had inflammatory bowel disease based on intestinal thickening and that she would likely need long-term dietary management and possibly medication. At the follow-up on 22 December, Dr Sunil Thanki stated that Mila did not have IBD. No further testing had been carried out in the interim. This unexplained reversal left us confused and concerned about the reliability of the original diagnosis.
We were then advised to book repeat imaging shortly afterwards to check whether renal stones had been excreted, including another ultrasound and X-ray. Mila was clinically well at this stage and has a long history of urinary symptoms attributed to renal stones without prior spontaneous resolution. We struggled to understand the urgency of repeating extensive imaging so soon, especially when separate veterinary advice indicated that a bladder ultrasound alone would have been sufficient.
We were also charged for 25 sachets of gastrointestinal food. Mila could not have consumed that amount in two days, and we had already purchased a separate box at discharge. After repeated emails, we were refunded for 12 sachets due to duplicate payment, yet 13 sachets remain unaccounted for. Even when well, Mila eats a maximum of two sachets per day. While unwell, it would have been less.
The matter took months to address. Our insurer raised questions about the necessity and authorisation of the investigations, delaying the claim and leaving us significantly out of pocket. We ultimately withdrew the claim to move forward, but the financial and emotional impact was considerable.
We have since moved to another practice. The difference in communication, written estimates, consent processes and cost transparency has been stark, as has the level of compassion and time given during consultations.
Based on our experience, we strongly urge pet owners to request detailed written estimates, confirm imaging and sedation plans in advance, and carefully consider alternatives before proceeding with treatment here.
Our cat needed emergency surgery, and we are deeply grateful to the whole team — especially Dr. Ovidiu Florincas, who performed the surgery and cared for him with so much compassion. His skill and kindness carried us through one of the hardest moments we’ve ever faced.
The surgery truly saved our cat’s life, and he is now healing beautifully.
We couldn’t be more thankful for the care, support, and warmth we received.🙏
Highly recommended to anyone who wants their pet treated with genuine love and professionalism.
Horrible and heartless people. Simply money hungry - charging extortionate prices for horrible care and no empathy. From reading other reviews I can see that trying to put down animals that aren’t even nearing death is a common practice in this place, they tried doing the exact same with my cat. “either you pay £5,000+ or we put her down” and then almost refused to give us the cat back. This isn’t a place that will care for your pets, they will just take your money.
I can’t thank the team at Goddard enough for the care they gave my kitten. I’m so grateful for the excellent care we received and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Goddard to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and compassionate veterinary practice. Thank you all for going above and beyond. 🐾💙
Thank you so much for your incredible care of Berlioz christmas evening, the clinical team were so attentive and helpful, they kept us informed every step of the way despite the busy evening.
The nurse who did his triage was so considerate to his needs (being an anxious boy) and the nurse who helped take his bloods was so gentle with him despite the difficulty in getting enough blood to test (medication lowered his bp)
We are so grateful for your care, and are so lucky to have you close by!
Super efficient and friendly, clearly explained what is happening with the dog, what I should do next and how to monitor progress
I’m really disappointed with my recent experience at Goddards.
My insurance company flagged two items on my invoice — Synulox Pal Tabs 500mg and Pardale-V Tabs — as having over a 100% markup, meaning the practice charged more than double the cost price. Because of this, my insurer deducted £73.49 from my claim.
I was charged £240 for an injection, two sets of tablets, and consultation fees, which feels even more concerning in light of the insurer’s feedback.
What’s been even more frustrating is the delay in dealing with this issue. The investigation is taking far too long, and this isn’t the first time—previously, it took Goddards an unreasonably long time to complete the insurance claim form, even with constant chasers from me.
Has anyone else experienced similar delays or concerns about being overcharged at this practice? I’m hoping this is just an error, but at this point I’m really disappointed with the service.
My cat had been vomiting so took him in today be looked at and the female vet had been really nice to be and my cat reassuring me and guiding me as to how look after him in the house and in the future now that’s is best experience I had with the vet so much love for the animals helps.
